Pensacola Monday Traffic: Gulf Beach Highway Paves at Night at a Reduced 35 MPH, and Scenic Highway Stripes Through Thursday (Pensacola Watch News)

The interstate is not the only Pensacola road on night shift this week. On State Road 292 - Gulf Beach Highway - drivers will meet intermittent lane closures from east of Bauer Road to Manchester Street on the nights of the week of Sunday, November 1, between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m., while crews pave, the Florida Department of Transportation's District 3 advisory says. The part of this job that applies at every hour is already in place: median devices near Patton Drive and Mills Avenue, and a speed limit reduced to 35 mph through the work zone. Monday's daytime drivers on the Perdido Key corridor will drive that slower, channelized stretch whether or not the pavers are out.

On the east side, U.S. 90 - Scenic Highway - gets the week's striping operation. From south of Interstate 10 to south of Hyde Park Road, drivers may meet intermittent lane closures from Sunday, November 1 through Thursday, November 5, between 8 p.m. and 5:30 a.m., for striping, with law enforcement on site and traffic flaggers directing drivers through the work zone. Anyone crossing town late - including after Monday night's events downtown - should expect a flagger stop on Scenic Highway rather than a free run.

Both jobs sit alongside the interstate schedule already published (SQ-20261101-046: I-10 and I-110 resurfacing and the Nine Mile Road interchange, same nights, 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.), and the standing downtown squeeze is unchanged: Garden Street between Pace Boulevard and North Donelson Street remains at two travel lanes - one in each direction - through late 2026. All of FDOT's work this week is weather dependent; the station forecast puts Monday night at a 6 percent rain chance, the driest night of the week, so the schedule has its best window first.
