I-10 Nights Belong to the Pavers Again: FDOT's Escambia Closure Schedule Runs November 1-5, with Nine Mile Road Down to One Lane Each Way All Week
FDOT's new work week starts tonight: resurfacing closures at both ends of I-10 in Escambia County from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. through Thursday, a week of single-lane nights on Nine Mile Road at Exit 5 - and the U.S. 29 ramp closure and detour still in force.

Interstate 10 in Escambia County goes back on night shift tonight. The Florida Department of Transportation's schedule for the week, reported by the I-10 Exit Guide, puts resurfacing work at both ends of the county's interstate from Sunday, November 1 through Thursday, November 5, between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.: from east of U.S. 29 to east of Davis Highway (State Road 291), drivers between mile markers 11 and 14 may meet intermittent lane closures, traffic shifts and periodic ramp closures; and from the Perdido River Bridge to west of U.S. 29, inside lanes close between mile markers 3 and 9 for milling and paving. All of the work is weather-dependent and subject to change.
The Nine Mile Road interchange (Exit 5) stacks its own disruptions on top. I-10 near the interchange gets intermittent lane closures on the same November 1-5 nights and hours, and Nine Mile Road itself is reduced to one travel lane in each direction between the I-10 ramps for a full week of nights - Sunday, November 1 through Saturday, November 7, 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. - with law enforcement on site and directional signage guiding drivers through the work zone. The temporary reconfiguration of the I-10 westbound on-ramp at Nine Mile remains in place through late 2026.
At U.S. 29 (Exit 10), the long-running configuration is unchanged and still easy to get wrong at night: I-10 eastbound lanes are shifted north, the interstate runs two lanes in each direction between U.S. 29 and I-110 through late 2026, U.S. 29 southbound access to the I-10 eastbound on-ramp is reduced, and the U.S. 29 northbound ramp to I-10 eastbound is closed outright - northbound drivers are detoured to make a U-turn at Broad Street onto U.S. 29 southbound to reach the eastbound on-ramp. Overnight drivers crossing the county this week should budget the extra minutes, especially at the two resurfacing fronts.
