Pensacola City Council District 2: Charles Bare and Sherri Myers Meet Again on the November 3 Ballot

Pensacola's District 2 race pairs the incumbent with the woman who held the seat before him. Councilman Charles Bare is seeking a second term against former Councilwoman Sherri Myers, and a political committee tied to the mayor's supporters has entered the race on Myers' side.

Pensacola City Council District 2: Charles Bare and Sherri Myers Meet Again on the November 3 Ballot (Pensacola Watch News)

District 2 voters get a familiar choice on Tuesday, November 3. Incumbent Councilman Charles Bare is running for a second term, and his challenger is Sherri Myers — the former councilwoman who held the District 2 seat for 12 years before him, according to Inweekly's election preview and the Pensacola News Journal's reporting this week.

The race has drawn outside help. Citizens for Pensacola, a local political committee formed to support Mayor D.C. Reeves' first mayoral campaign, has sent mailers and text messages backing Myers and attacking Bare, the News Journal reported on October 28. The committee spent more than $50,000 in Reeves' 2026 reelection effort. Myers told the News Journal she was surprised by the support and did not know until October 27 that the committee paying for it was tied to Reeves.

Bare, who previously served as an at-large council member, has clashed with Reeves more often than other council members in his first term, the News Journal reported, including votes against the Baptist Hospital planning contract and a youth curfew ordinance. District 2 is one of two Pensacola City Council races on the November 3 ballot, alongside District 4.
