Overnight at 71 and Clear: Election Day Ticks Up to 36 Percent - and Wednesday's Showers Climb Back to 47 (Pensacola Watch News)

Pensacola goes to sleep on Election Day eve warm and clear. The station's live weather feed (Open-Meteo), read at 11:38 p.m., put the city at 71.0 degrees, feeling like 70.6, under a clear sky with a rain chance of 1 percent - warmer than the 69.8 on the desk's 9:45 p.m. read, at the end of a Monday that topped out at 76.5.

Election Day itself moved only slightly, and in the direction of damp: Tuesday reads overcast in the feed, high 76.7, low 70.3, with the rain chance ticking up from 33 percent in the late-evening file to 36 percent overnight. That is still a mainly dry voting day by any honest reading - polls are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and in Escambia County the one displaced polling place, Precinct 35, votes at Heights Baptist Church on Pickens Avenue. Keep the umbrella in the car; the plan has not changed since dinner.

Wednesday is where the night actually moved. The shower chance that fell from 68 percent to 38 percent in the evening's model run has climbed back to 47 percent in the overnight feed, on the same cooler high of 79.5 - the cold front arriving neither as weak as the 9:45 p.m. read hoped nor as wet as the 7:50 p.m. read feared. Behind it, Thursday has cleared to mainly clear at 83.2, Friday brings drizzle at 79.7, Saturday sits overcast at 80.1, and Sunday cools to 74.2 with the week's lowest overnight, 58.1 - a gentle landing for the Blue Angels homecoming weekend.
