Bears Rout the Defending Champions 34-17 on Monday Night: Williams Deals, Swift Scores Three Times
Chicago went into Seattle and dismantled the Super Bowl champions to close Week 8 - 363 yards, a defense that held Seattle to 71 first-half yards, and a 6-2 record within a half-game of the NFC North lead.

The Chicago Bears closed Week 8 with the kind of win that changes how a season gets talked about. Chicago beat the defending champion Seattle Seahawks 34-17 on Monday night at Lumen Field, improving to 6-2 while Seattle fell to 4-4 - the Seahawks' first loss of the season by more than three points.
Caleb Williams directed it: 24-of-34 for 247 yards and a touchdown, an early scoring pass to Luther Burden III, and a fourth straight win in games he has started and finished. The ground game finished the argument - D'Andre Swift scored three rushing touchdowns, two of them in the fourth quarter after Seattle had clawed back to 20-17 on Sam Darnold's touchdown pass to Cooper Kupp and a two-point conversion to Tory Horton. Chicago's answer took five plays and 56 yards, and a late Darnold interception, batted down and picked by a Bears defensive lineman, set up Swift's third score.
Seattle's night was the mirror image: 71 yards of offense in the first half, a 13-3 hole, and Darnold finishing 17-of-34 for 188 yards with two touchdowns against that interception, facing a Chicago defense newly reinforced by Jeffery Simmons, who was stellar in his Bears debut. Chicago gained 363 yards in all and now sits within a half-game of the NFC North lead, having beaten last season's two Super Bowl teams in consecutive weeks. The champions, 4-4 at the halfway mark, host Arizona on Sunday with their title defense officially on notice.
