Trick-or-Treating in Pensacola Tonight: No Official Hours, a 6:01 p.m. Sunset and Debris Still on the Curbs
There are no official trick-or-treating hours in Pensacola or anywhere in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties — most families head out around 5:30 to 6 p.m., the sun sets at 6:01, and this year the walk comes with an extra obstacle: Hurricane Isaias debris still piled along many neighborhood roads.

Halloween night in Pensacola runs on custom, not ordinance. There are no official trick-or-treating hours in the city or in surrounding Escambia and Santa Rosa counties, the Pensacola News Journal reported this week. Most people head out soon after work, around 5:30 to 6 p.m., and neighborhoods typically wrap up around 8 to 9 p.m. The sun sets in Pensacola at 6:01 p.m. on October 31, so most of the walk happens after dark.
The weather should mostly cooperate. The station's live feed put Saturday's high at 76.8 degrees with an 11 percent precipitation chance, and North Escambia's forecast called for a 20 percent chance of showers after 1 p.m., mostly cloudy skies and a high near 80, with rain chances increasing overnight into a showery Sunday. A light jacket is unnecessary; a small umbrella is not a bad idea late.
This year's safety note is local: piles of debris from Hurricane Isaias still line many neighborhood roads, narrowing sidewalks and sightlines. Standard Halloween guidance applies with extra force — children under 12 out with an adult, older kids in groups on familiar, well-lit routes, flashlights and reflective tape to help drivers see them, and drivers slowing down and staying especially alert in residential neighborhoods during the popular 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. hours.
