Pensacola State College Dedicates Meadows Hall and Unveils a $500,000 Scholarship in Its Longest-Serving President's Honor (Pensacola Watch News)

Pensacola State College is putting its longest-serving president's name on a building — and on a scholarship. The college celebrated the dedication of C. Edward Meadows Hall on the Pensacola campus and announced a $500,000 endowed scholarship fund established in honor of former President Ed Meadows, the Pensacola News Journal reported.

Meadows became the sixth president of what was then Pensacola Junior College in 2008 and went on to become PSC's longest-serving president over an 18-year tenure. When he announced his retirement in April, the PSC District Board of Trustees voted to dedicate Building 10 — home to the Dr. Marjan Mazza Bachelor of Applied Science in Business and Management — in his honor and bestowed on him the title of president emeritus.

Sen. Don Gaetz credited Meadows with adding 11 new degrees at PSC, including Florida's first cybersecurity program and a bachelor's degree in nursing that became a statewide model. The President Meadows Endowed Scholarship, a $500,000 fund built through gifts from 115 donors over five months, will provide financial assistance to PSC workforce program students who demonstrate financial need.
