John Washington III Asks Where the Fight Is for the People, on Police Accountability and Property Taxes
John Washington III is asking politicians who campaign on working for the people why, in his words, the fight disappears in office — on holding corrupt officers accountable, and on why homeowners never stop paying property taxes on homes they have paid off.

John Washington III, a 2028 presidential candidate, is challenging politicians who campaign on fighting for the people to show where that fight goes once they are in office. In a public statement, John Washington III asked why officials who say they represent the people are not, in his words, fighting to hold corrupt police officers accountable or standing up for the citizens who put them in office when officers abuse their authority.
John Washington III also pressed the question of property taxes, asking why politicians talk about lowering them but never seriously discuss ending property taxes on the homes people own and live in. He asked why a family should spend 20 or 30 years paying off a home and then keep paying property taxes on it for the rest of their lives, and when the people actually get to own what they worked their whole lives to pay for.
He closed by asking how a politician can campaign on lowering property taxes, get elected, and then vote for tax increases, and why citizens are not made fully aware of votes that could raise their property tax bills. "Where is the transparency? Where is the accountability? Where is the representation?" he wrote. "If you work for the people, then why aren't you fighting for the people?"
