Miami Holds No. 1, Georgia Takes No. 2 by Beating Florida, and Ohio State Falls Out of the Top 10 in the New AP Top 25
Florida's line in the new poll runs in two directions: the Hurricanes are still the nation's top team after a 38-35 escape, and the Gators are the team Georgia beat 27-8 to climb to second.

The new Associated Press Top 25, published Sunday, keeps a Florida team on top of college football. Miami remained No. 1 after pulling out a 38-35 victory over North Carolina on Saturday, Reuters reported - a tight win that was still enough to hold the spot for the 8-0 Hurricanes.
The week's biggest move came at Florida's expense. Georgia took over the No. 2 spot after a 27-8 victory over the Gators, while Utah moved up three places to No. 3 after a 49-25 victory over Cincinnati and Notre Dame sits at No. 4. Ohio State supplied the poll's plummet: the Buckeyes fell nine spots, out of the top 10 to No. 11, after falling behind early in a 30-18 loss at Southern California. UCLA rose two spots to No. 5 - its highest ranking since 2001 - after a 27-0 nonconference victory over Nevada in an 8-0 start under first-year coach Bob Chesney.
The rest of the top 10, in order, is BYU, Kentucky, Alabama and Texas. And the poll's best first-timer story belongs to New Mexico, which moved into the Top 25 for the first time in program history at No. 22 after improving to 7-1 with a 21-16 victory at San Jose State. For Pensacola's college fans, the local week still belongs to UWF's Division I basketball opener tonight - but on the football map, the state holds the top spot for another week.
