Division I Starts Tonight at the Field House: UWF Men's Basketball Opens Its New Era Against Southeastern Baptist (Pensacola Watch News)

A new era of Pensacola college basketball begins tonight. The University of West Florida men's basketball team opens its 2026-27 season at the UWF Field House against Southeastern Baptist - the program's first game in its first year of NCAA Division I competition, the centerpiece of the university's move up that also carried its football program into Division I this fall.

The schedule wastes no time testing the Argos. After tonight's opener, UWF travels to Florida International on November 6, returns home for Baptist University on November 9, and goes back on the road for Alabama A&M on November 12 and Cleveland State on November 13 before Wisconsin Green Bay visits the Field House on November 17. It is a November built like a measuring stick - home dates to build on, road dates to learn from.

The home date circled furthest out is December 13, when the U.S. Naval Academy visits Pensacola - a matchup, presented by Navy Federal Credit Union, that pairs the Argos with the Midshipmen in the home of Naval Air Station Pensacola, the Cradle of Naval Aviation. Season tickets for the new era are on sale at $200 and cover every men's and women's home game at the Field House, where the university has promised enhanced fan experiences for the Division I debut season. The era starts tonight; the building gets its first say.
