Afternoon at 75 and Mainly Clear: Election Day's Shower Chance Eases to 42 Percent, Wednesday's Front Unchanged (Pensacola Watch News)

The afternoon has settled into the calm the morning promised. The station's live weather feed (Open-Meteo), read at 1:38 p.m., put Pensacola at 75.1 degrees, feeling like 77, and mainly clear, on its way to a Monday high of 75.9 with a rain chance of just 2 percent - the warm, quiet Election Day eve the National Weather Service's North Escambia forecast described, with an east wind and a partly cloudy night near 65 ahead.

The one number that moved is the one voters care about. Tuesday's rain showers - weather code 81 - now carry a 42 percent chance in the feed, eased from 47 percent at midday, with a high of 76.5 and a low of 69.9. Read plainly: most of the 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. voting day still looks dry-to-showery rather than washed out, and the umbrella-in-the-car advice stands. Wednesday remains the hinge - the feed carries drizzle at 57 percent and a high of 83.3 ahead of the front, while the Weather Service's stronger attributed line is showers and possibly a thunderstorm at 80 percent, with the severe threat low.

Behind the front, the week changes character. The feed warms Thursday to 83.2 under partly cloudy skies, then cools Friday to a high of 72.7 with lows sliding through the 60s - 66.2 Friday, 65.4 Saturday, 61.8 Sunday - while the Weather Service brings nighttime lows into the 40s by Friday night in the North Escambia area. That cooler, drier air is what the Blue Angels homecoming weekend will be flown in: Saturday at 80.5 in the feed with a 5 percent rain chance, Sunday at 76.7.
