Gulf Breeze Suspends Fence Permit Requirements Until November 16 for Storm Recovery
Residents putting storm-damaged fences back up inside the city limits can skip the permit line for two more weeks. The city says the suspension, under its local emergency declaration, runs through November 16.

Gulf Breeze residents rebuilding fences damaged in the storm can put the permit paperwork down for two more weeks. The City of Gulf Breeze announced it is once again temporarily suspending fence permit requirements, this time until November 16, 2026, to support residents in their ongoing storm recovery efforts. The suspension is issued under the city's existing Declaration of Local State of Emergency.
The word 'once again' in the city's announcement is doing quiet work: this is a renewal of relief the city has already offered once during this recovery, extended as fence lines across the city are still being repaired and replaced weeks after Hurricane Isaias. Fences are among the most common casualties of a Gulf storm - blown flat by wind, crushed by fallen trees, or pulled down in the cleanup - and they sit at the top of many homeowners' repair lists once roofs and water damage are handled.
The suspension is time-limited and city-specific: it covers fence work inside the Gulf Breeze city limits under the emergency declaration, and the permit requirement returns after November 16. Residents with questions about whether their project qualifies can reach the city at (850) 934-5100. Homeowners elsewhere in Santa Rosa County and in Escambia County remain under their own jurisdictions' normal rules - this relief belongs to Gulf Breeze alone.
