Still Holding a Florida Mail Ballot on Monday? It Is Too Late to Mail It - Drop It Off by 7 P.M. Tuesday

A Florida mail ballot counts only if your supervisor of elections RECEIVES it by 7 p.m. on Election Day - a postmark does not count. Monday's safe routes are a drop-off at the supervisor's office or voting in person at your assigned precinct.

Still Holding a Florida Mail Ballot on Monday? It Is Too Late to Mail It - Drop It Off by 7 P.M. Tuesday (Pensacola Watch News)

If a completed Florida mail ballot is still sitting on a Pensacola kitchen table on Monday, the mailbox is no longer the safe route. Under Florida law the ballot counts only if the county supervisor of elections receives it by 7 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, November 3 - a ballot postmarked by Election Day but received after 7 p.m. is not counted. The one exception is for qualifying overseas voters, who get a 10-day extension for ballots postmarked or dated by Election Day.

The routes that still work on Monday and Tuesday are in person. A mail ballot can be dropped off at the supervisor of elections office or a secure ballot intake station by the 7 p.m. deadline - but Florida's neighborhood polling places do not accept vote-by-mail ballots on Election Day, so a precinct is the wrong drop-off address. A voter who would rather vote in person can bring the mail ballot to their assigned precinct, surrender it, and cast a regular ballot there instead.

Election Day itself runs 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. local time at assigned precincts only - there is no voting at early-voting sites on Tuesday - a photo ID with a signature is required, and anyone already in line at 7 p.m. is allowed to vote. Voters who later learn of a signature problem on a returned mail ballot have until 5 p.m. on Thursday, November 5 to file a cure affidavit.
